Shark, cod, rock fish and huge halibut are drawn to the nutrient rich waters of the Pribilofs. St. George waters support a local commercial fishing industry, the primary economic force on the Island. Local fishing guides are very knowledgeable and able to take you safely to the spot where you can haul in a 200 pounder. Boat tours are also an excellent way to gain a unique perspective on the rookeries and surrounding wildlife. Fur seals play in the boat's wake and the view of the rookeries from beneath the High Bluffs may remind you of bees swarming around a giant hive. For information about boat charters for fishing or sight seeing, please contact our local Tourism Coordinator.
